SUMMARY:PROJECT STEINWAY GALA
DESCRIPTION:To offer public school students new opportunities in music education they could not receive elsewhere in Mobile\, a campaign has been launched to raise funds for a new Steinway and Sons piano for the performance hall at Murphy High School and a new Steinway-designed Boston grand piano for the choral room.\n\n\n\nProceeds from the Project Steinway Gala\, set for 2 p.m. on Sunday\, Sept. 23\, will help fund the purchase of a nine-foot grand piano and a choral room piano priced at $200\,000. \n\n\n\n"There are 24 piano makers of a 9' performance grand in the world today and yet 96% of all pianists performing with orchestras worldwide choose the Steinway Piano exclusively. For over 165 years\, Steinway and Sons has been building the best piano possible. This handmade piano is built to a high quality level\, taking an entire year to build. No other piano on the market appreciates in value and no other piano is as appreciated by pianists\, teachers\, students\, and audiences. The investment will benefit Murphy High School and its students for generations to come\," states Christy Myers\, Owner of Steinway Spanish Fort. \n\n \n\nPerformers for the gala\, include Steinway Artist Kadisha Onalbayeva\, Steinway Artist Robert Holm\, Murphy graduate Shelby Bowling Milgram and the Murphy Four Arts Club.
