Description
Now that school is out, it’s time to plan a day of summertime fun for the family! Come to Bellingrath Gardens and Home on Wednesday, June 14, for Kids Gulf Discovery Day, an opportunity for children of all ages to learn about the wildlife and ecology of the Gulf Coast. A wide variety of environmental organizations will be on hand for activities and demonstrations from 9 a.m. to noon. Scientists from the Dauphin Island Sea Lab will introduce children to the creatures of Mobile Bay, and the Environmental Studies Center will present an exciting Raptor Road Show on the Great Lawn, featuring rehabilitated hawks, owls and other birds of prey. Guests may also take a 45-minute guided cruise along the beautiful Fowl River with our friends from Wild Native Delta Safaris! Cruise times are 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., weather permitting. Fees are $8 for adults and $6 for ages 5-12 (free to ages 4 and under). Space is limited and reservations are required for the cruise; to register, call 251-459-8864. Kids Gulf Discovery Day admission is $13 for adults, $7.50 for children ages 5-12. There is no admission fee for Bellingrath members or for ages 4 and younger. For details, visit our website, www.bellingrath.org.
