The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce celebrated a new member, Flourish Community, with a ribbon cutting! Flourish is a non-profit serving teen girls from under resourced communities in Mobile and Baldwin County, Alabama.
"Our mission is to equip and empower teen girls to excel and flourish in all aspects one life. We offer a free community center for teen girls ages 13-18 to attend weekly for workshops, personal development and career preparation. Each girls is offered a woman mentor from our community to meet with them outside of our regular program for support and encouragement. We also provide a career and furthered education program for 15-18 years old that focuses on soft skills training and preparation for the future. We offer our services and center completely free so that girls from under-resourced communities can access the services they need no matter their circumstances."
"Flourish was started in the Fall of 2020 after seeing a need for teen girls to have a safe place to come weekly for personal development, encouragement and an environment of love. With the statistics rising around teen girls with 1 in 8 girls experience sexual abuse under 18 and the average age of entry into sex trafficking being 12 years old, we wanted teen girls to know they have a safe community to be apart of. With the 2nd leading cause of death among 10-24 year olds being death by suicide, we wanted girls to know they have a place to remind them they belong and their life matters. "
"We make clean burning, soy candles with custom labels for local businesses at a wholesale price. This product helps our older teen girls learn soft skills and earn a stipend while preparing them for a real job. Request a custom candle with us!"
"We are a 100% free community center and services and we can only continue to be succeed and thrive with the support of the community. Join the Flourish Family and support our community at www.flourishAL.com/flourish-family"
