Infirmary Health to Host RIDEYELLOW on Saturday, October 1
Bay Minette, Ala. — On Saturday, October 1, Infirmary Health will host the region’s largest charity bike ride, RIDEYELLOW, at Halliday Park in Bay Minette. All proceeds from the ride benefit Rapahope, a local, not-for-profit that is dedicated to bringing joy to the childhood cancer journey.
The ride begins at 7 a.m. in the park. Participants can complete the 6-mile tribute ride or 10-, 20-, 32- or 64-mile bike ride. Registration is open now at rideyellow.org or at the park through 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Founded in 2007 by Ann White-Spunner and Mary Trufant, RIDEYELLOW was started to raise awareness and funds for cancer. To date, the charity bike ride has donated more than $538,000 to cancer charities. Infirmary Health is dedicated to continuing the ride’s original mission by donating all proceeds to Rapahope. They offer a variety of therapeutic camping programs free of charge for children with cancer and their families.
Riders participating in the ride can ride in honor or in memory of someone who has battled cancer. On the Wednesday evening prior to each ride, the RIDEYELLOW committee, Rapahope and Bay Minette community come together to put together the Unity Chain, a paper chain with the handwritten names of everyone who has ever been recognized during the ride. The Unity Chain is displayed at the park during the event.
