Mobile Symphony Goes Classical/Bluegrass for Beethoven & Blue Jeans, Nov. 19 & 20
The Mobile Symphony Orchestra (MSO) invites concertgoers to dress down and leave uplifted for its 25th Anniversary Beethoven & Blue Jeans concert, Saturday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2:30 p.m., at Mobile’s historic Saenger Theatre. The annual casual concert is always an audience favorite, and this year’s performance features Beethoven’s lively Symphony No. 7 and Kentucky-born violin sensation Tessa Lark playing a bluegrass-inspired concerto written just for her.
Violinist Tessa Lark is one of classical music’s top young stars, educated at Juilliard and now packing concert halls across the country. Her exuberant musical personality is perfect for this casual concert. The entire concert follows a vibrant theme – from Aaron Copland’s Rodeo to Beethoven’s Symphony No 7. This is a concert not to be missed!
Five-concert season memberships are $85-$340. Tickets to individual concerts are $20-$89. Student tickets are $10. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at 251-432-2010 or at the symphony box office, 257 Dauphin Street. Through MSO’s Big Red Ticket program, sponsored by the Alabama Power Foundation, students in grades K-12 can attend any of the season’s classical Sunday performances for free when accompanied by a paying adult (excludes special events like the annual holiday concert). The Mobile Symphony has been a regional orchestra for the central Gulf Coast since 1997. Scott Speck serves as music director.
