The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce celebrated new member, The Maynard 4 Foundation, with a ribbon cutting! The non-profit specializes in programming with four areas of focus: education, culture, social justice and health equity.
The President's background and growing up in Farmville, VA. "Coming from humble beginnings with little resources, I am inspired to be a resource to those that may need it the most."
We were established on Juneteenth, our anniversary is June 19, 2020. So, our Miss Juneteenth Scholarship Pageantry Program is our biggest program currently. Registration is currently open for young ladies nationwide, who will be ages 13-18 at the time of the program. Flyer available and info at missjuneteenth.org.
The president's inspiration was her grandmother, who passed away due to breast cancer. "Our first grants provided by our Foundation took place this past June, and in partnership with the ladies of the Mobile Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, we were able to provide grants to three breast cancer survivors. (Press release and info is on website.) Because of this inspiration, we are hosting our ribbon cutting in the month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness month and are asking all those that will attend ribbon cutting to wear pink."
