Neighborhood Bridges, a nonprofit organization that facilitates direct local giving to students and families in need, announced the expansion of its Fairhope community into the Eastern Shore communities of Daphne and Spanish Fort.
“Neighborhood Bridges has been a godsend for our school,” said Jon Cardwell, principal, Fairhope High School. “It is amazing to put a need out there, and have it filled quickly. Our community is overflowing with people wanting to help, and it’s so hard to direct those efforts, but neighborhood bridges coordinates and meets the needs of my students and their families. It takes a village, and neighborhood bridges lives by that creed.”
Neighborhood bridges facilitates direct local giving to students and families in need by inviting professionals at schools to advocate for those in need. Advocates post needs via a secure portal that maintains recipient anonymity. neighborhood bridges then shares those needs through email and social media posts—engaging community members to fulfill them. Typical needs include grocery cards, clothing, shoes, coats, eye exams, school supplies, school fees, and monetary donations for household expenses.
As a community resource, neighborhood bridges Baldwin County – Eastern Shore aids school counselors, teachers, social workers and administrators in meeting essential needs for at-risk and underprivileged students, and their families.
As with all affiliated communities, 100 percent of donations to neighborhood bridges Baldwin County – Eastern Shore will be used locally to help students and families in need.
