SBA continues to accept application for the Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) online for the natural disaster that occurred on January 12 in Alabama ? ? ? ?

On March 16, 2023 we have closed permanently the Business Recovery Center (BRC) in Mount Vernon, Alabama.  We have served several businessowners and residents affected by the severe storms and tornados on January 12, 2023.  I have traveled out of the area and currently serving another declaration.  

We continue to accept application for the Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) online via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/ela/s/ .  Please apply under SBA declaration # 17759 until October 16, 2023.  Also, late applications for physical damage to your residence and property are accepted online for a short time.

 

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced opening of a Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC) at the Felix Heights Community Center in Selma on Friday, March 17. FEMA formerly operated a Disaster Recovery Center at the same site. SBA’s DLOC will serve Alabama business owners, homeowners and renters affected by the severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes that occurred Jan. 12. The DLOC will be open as indicated below until further notice:

Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

SBA encourages anyone who has not applied for a disaster loan to visit the center for one-on-one assistance.

Anyone in the affected counties can apply for a disaster loan. Those who were referred to SBA by FEMA who have yet to complete their application can visit the Felix Heights Community Center for assistance. There is no cost to apply and no obligation to accept a loan. If a homeowner or renter’s loan application is denied, SBA automatically refers the applicant back to FEMA for potential additional grant consideration. SBA’s Customer Service Representatives are also available to answer questions about the disaster loan program, check an application’s status, upload documents, and assist with reconsideration requests.

What’s available:

Only Primary Counties, including Mobile in the declaration can apply for the following loans with SBA: 

Business Physical Disaster Loans – Loans to businesses to repair or replace disaster-damaged property owned by the business, including real estate, inventories, supplies, machinery and equipment. Businesses of any size are eligible. Private, non-profit organizations such as charities, churches, private universities, etc., are also eligible. Max. loan 2 million dollars.

Home Disaster Loans – Loans to homeowners or renters to repair or replace disaster-damaged real estate and personal property, including automobiles. Residents that sustained physical damages need to register with FEMA first. Max. loan $200,000 for homeowners (primary residence) & $40,000 for personal property including renters. 

The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is March 16, 2023Applications are still accepted online for a limited time.

For small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations, the SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any physical property damage. All businesses and private non-profit organizations qualifying in primary counties (including Mobile) and contiguous counties (including Baldwin and Washington) may apply with SBA for EIDL without any proof of physical damages.   

Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) – Working capital loans to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private, non-profit organizations of all sizes meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a direct result of the disaster. These loans are intended to assist through the disaster recovery period. Max. loan 2 million dollars.

The deadline to return economic injury applications is Oct. 16, 2023.
