Topping Out Ceremony Held at USA Health Hillcrest Campus in West Mobile
MOBILE, Alabama (May 4, 2022) -- USA Health today celebrated the “topping out” of the physician office building at its Hillcrest Campus in West Mobile. The ceremony marks the facility reaching its highest point.
“This ceremony represents more than just reaching the highest point in construction,” said Owen Bailey, M.S.H.A., FACHE, chief executive officer of USA Health. “About five years ago, we developed a relationship with Mobile Diagnostic Center to combine a strong community-based primary care group with the specialized medicine of an academic health system. This 90,000-square-foot building is a demonstration of the success of that venture.”
The physician office building is located just east of the recently opened Freestanding Emergency Department (FED) and USA Health imaging center. The FED is a full-service emergency department, bringing vital services to residents of West Mobile. The imaging center, in the same building as the FED, has a full array of imaging technology, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound and mammography.
In a tradition that dates back to ancient Scandinavia, the construction team at the site hoisted a beam to the top of the building after community members and representatives of USA, USA Health and the construction team signed the beam.
Standing three-stories high, the physician office building will be home to Mobile Diagnostic Center and USA Health specialty care providers to better meet the healthcare needs of the people in the region. While the specialties that will be located in the facility have not yet been finalized, they likely will include orthopaedic surgery, cardiology, surgery and neurology.
The physician office building is scheduled to open in mid-2023.
