MONTGOMERY, AL – Ben Hansert, Mobile Infirmary Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of laboratory services at Infirmary Health, was recently elected president of the Southwest Regional Council of the Alabama Hospital Association (AlaHA). The election took place at the Association’s annual meeting last week.
“We are thankful for leaders like Ben who are willing to serve,” said Donald E. Williamson, MD, president of AlaHA. “The regional hospital councils allow hospital leaders to network and share best practices, and that has been especially invaluable over the past several years.”
Hansert has served as the COO of Mobile Infirmary since October of 2021. Mobile Infirmary is a 669-bed hospital and the largest not-for-profit, non-governmental hospital in Alabama. Previously, he was the president of North Baldwin Infirmary and executive director of Infirmary Medical Clinics. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Cardio Pulmonary Sciences from the University of South Alabama and first worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Mobile Infirmary in the early 1990s before advancing into healthcare management.
In addition to his service to the Alabama Hospital Association, Hansert currently serves on the board of directors for LifeSouth Community Blood Centers. He also previously served on the board of directors for the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Health Education Consortium.
Founded in 1921, the Alabama Hospital Association is a statewide trade organization that assists member hospitals in effectively serving the healthcare needs of Alabama, through advocacy, representation, education and service.
