Bishop State prepares to host Girls Learning About Manufacturing summer camp
MOBILE, Ala., July 18, 2023 - Bishop State Community College in partnership with Manufacture Alabama is excited to announce this year's Girls Learning About Manufacturing (GLAM) summer camp. This year girls in grades 6th – 11th will get the chance to explore education and careers in manufacturing by touring local industries including Austal, Flight Works Alabama, and Airbus, learning a lesson in physics, and experiencing hands-on activities during a session called “Industry Talks” with AMNS Calvert.

WHY: This is an exciting opportunity for young girls to explore manufacturing in our region and gain insight into what it takes to be a female leader in these industries. These young girls will get the chance to explore the inside of local businesses and industries and get one-on-one opportunities to ask the questions that will impact them the most.
About GLAM: GLAM™ is a program designed to create interest in careers in manufacturing amongst the next generation of women in the workforce. GLAM™ offers an array of activities from mentorship programs to hands-on activity fairs designed to give female students an opportunity to meaningfully connect with women who work in various sectors of the manufacturing industry and deepen their understanding of the types of opportunities that exist in manufacturing. Growing the number of women who pursue careers in manufacturing is essential to the future of our industry!
