Tom Tyler Named New Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director
The Baldwin County Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of the new Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director, Tom Tyler. Tyler was formally appointed as the Baldwin County EMA Director during the regularly scheduled Baldwin County Commission meeting on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, in the Baldwin County Fairhope Satellite Courthouse Commission Meeting Chambers. Tyler was previously appointed to the role of Baldwin County EMA’s Interim Director from the role of Deputy Director at the regularly scheduled Baldwin County Commission meeting on June 6, 2023.
With a devoted commitment to public safety, Tyler is determined to build upon the strong foundation laid by the team at the Baldwin County EMA with plans to further strengthen the agency’s ability to respond effectively and efficiently to emergencies, disasters, and other critical incidents through the coordinated efforts of our excellent community partners.

In his previous role as the Alabama National Guard’s Director of Military Support, Colonel (Ret) Tyler worked directly with the Alabama EMA to provide support to state and local authorities during times of need. Tyler fully understands the value of partnerships and is committed to strengthening the Baldwin County EMA’s network of public and private sector organizations to ensure resiliency and to enable faster recovery in Baldwin County.
