Mobile, Ala. – Nidal Bassam Omar, M.D., neurosurgeon, joins Infirmary Neurosurgery following the completion of his residency with the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Infirmary Neurosurgery is an Infirmary Medical Clinic and a member of Infirmary Health’s multi-disciplinary Neuroscience Center of Excellence. Infirmary Neurosurgery provides a full range of diagnostic services and treatment for neurologic conditions including brain tumors, complex and degenerative spine issues and trauma.
Dr. Omar is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with bachelor degrees in biomedical sciences and psychology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Dr. Omar is a recipient the Stephen Mahaley Jr. MD Award for Translational Research at UAB Neurosurgery’s 37th Annual J. Garber Galbraith, MD Scientific Session and Lecture. He was also awarded UAB Neurosurgery’s inaugural Jacob R. Lepard MD Award for Outstanding PGY-2 Resident Consultant in Neurosurgery. Dr. Omar’s research on a variety of neuroscience topics has been widely published, and he has co-authored multiple chapters in academic textbooks.
