The Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce had some special visitors at their last ribbon cutting for Service Dogs Alabama, a non-profit dedicated to providing medical and psychiatric Service Dogs to Children, Veterans, and First Responders with disabilities, as well as Facility Intervention Dogs.
"Our co-founders trained their personal dogs as therapy dogs. When they saw what a huge difference the dogs made in people's lives at therapy visits, they were inspired to begin a program that would enable individuals to have their own, full-time service dogs."
"Our dogs can tell the difference between a seizure and a PTSD night terror, even though these often look similar. Our dogs know how to alert differently to each. We are the only organization in the state of Alabama certified by Assistance Dogs International."
